The Hacker Dictionary
- Clean Coins: Crypto with no history of illegal use.
- Cold Storage: Storing crypto keys offline (Paper/Hardware).
- DDOS: Distributed Denial of Service. Flooding a site to crash it.
- De-anonymization: The process of revealing a user’s true identity.
- Dox: Publishing someone’s private info (Name, Address) online.
- Drop: A physical location to receive goods.
- Escrow: A third party holding funds until a deal is complete.
- Exit Node: The last Tor node where traffic enters the clear web.
- Exit Scam: When a market or vendor suddenly disappears with all user funds.
- FUD: Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Spreading fake bad news.
- Honeypot: A trap setup by law enforcement (e.g., a fake market).
- Mixer / Tumbler: A service that mixes coins to obscure their origin.
- OpSec: Operational Security. The process of protecting information.
- PGP: Pretty Good Privacy. Encryption standard.
- Phishing: A fake site designed to steal credentials.
- Tainted Coins: Crypto linked to crime, blacklisted by exchanges.
- VPN: Virtual Private Network. (Controversial with Tor).
